Cheryl Erskine
@cheryl_erskine
Erskine’s love affair with painting flowers & foliage began with the purchase of their first home which boasted a formal rose garden complete with rambling old-fashioned perfumed roses, in every hue imaginable. This brought back childhood memories of trips to the Dandenongs with her parents and endless days spent helping in the family garden. Studying art and classical history at school, she always wanted to paint. Yet, it wasn’t until her youngest child finished school that she finally set up a studio in the garden of the family’s home.

Howard Kimber
@howard_kimber_art
Unashamedly inspired by Australian modernist Jeffrey Smart, Howard’s works are about man’s place in the world he has constructed. However, where Smart has grey skies, Howard’s are almost always blue and cloudless, referencing their locations with a native heat that only ever exists in an Australian memory. “My paintings aren’t of a moment or a façade, they’re of a day and an environment, of what’s behind the façade, what’s inside the building, what went on yesterday or will be here tomorrow.”

60x120cm, $1,650

Lyn Stephens
@lynstephens_art
Artistic expression requires a brave heart! It comes from a gnawing desire that eventually takes a place in your life! My background is Graphic Design and a career in Advertising, however I have always pursued personal artistic interests. Currently I draw inspiration from the natural world, especially the Australian landscape. I’d like to think that in this ever evolving ‘built’ world I can offer a fresh view, a reminder of what we have and the need to preserve it. I am a member of both the Brighton Art and Hawthorn Artists Societies. My medium of choice currently is oils, acrylics and pastel.

Hilary Faye
@hilary__faye
Hilary Faye’s photographic images explore environmental observations with an aesthetic sensitivity that show the tenderness she holds for her surroundings. She uses the language of image making to bring significance to and celebrate ordinary moments. This practice has become a tool to draw meaning from everyday relationships and interactions with the environment. Through working with traditional and experimental methods, she records and ruminates on the ongoing ecological degradation of Australia’s ancient landscape.

Wendy Fletcher
Art has always inspired joy and curiosity in me. I get immersed in the art process and I enjoy learning new techniques and practices. Currently I work with linoleum blocks to create relief prints. I draw inspiration from Australia’s native flora, the local landscape and iconic Melbourne landmarks. When I create my linocut designs, I reduce images to simple graphic shapes then add line and markings to create realism and texture. My colour palette is vibrant and bold. After gaining my teacher qualification, I completed a Graduate Diploma in Art Education and later a Diploma of Art (Studio Stitch).
