YEEEEESSSSS! That time of year again, time to commit to raising funds for brain cancer research and get as many teams as we can to embark on a great challenge to get through the end of winter and do something that will ultimately be a memory that you will never forget for a very worthy cause.
This is the seventh year Beon Energy Solutions, Next Generation Electrical, Citipower & Powercor and friends have been entering teams into the Surf Coast Century event with more than $160k funds raised for charities that are dear to our hearts.
This year we will again be raising money for brain cancer again and the continuation of the Alfie Chivers Research Fellowship. The Alfie Chivers Research Fellowship, which we collectively helped fund, has progressed well and aiming to establish culture methods for treatment of rare, low-survival childhood brain tumour models as published in the March 2023 edition of scientific journal, Cancer Cell. Each donation supports researchers in Melbourne to further understand and better treat brain tumours, including earlier detection, surgery and post-surgery treatments.
Surf Coast Century - The basics:
When is it: Saturday 16 September 2023, from 7am for Leg 1 with the teams finishing between 430 and 700pm.
Teams of 4: completing each 20-30km with a total of 100km along beaches, across cliff tops, through forests and trails between Anglesea, Jan Juc and Airey's Inlet. Teams to be finalised by August 2023, aiming for five teams of four in 2023.
