Tammie's Marathon Journey for RORY'S WARRIORS

By Tammie Rees

My Updates

I’m a MARATHONER

Monday 11th Oct
Well the day after completing my first ever marathon is here. I actually did it! Somehow I got over the line with hardest last 6km. The knee was hurting bad, but I pushed through and finished and boy am I glad! I’ve completed a marathon and hoping I’ve spread enough awareness around paediatric brain cancer in the meantime. I’ve had lots of people ask me who is Rory? How do I know him? I’m so honoured to have ran for you Rory and I hope this makes a difference. I hope one day there’s an answer and mostly a cure!!! 💙🤍💙

The hard work has been done

Monday 4th Oct
The last long run has been ran!

The efforts are in!

It’s taper week and a few small runs before the big one on Sunday!

I’m super excited and keen to get it started. Can’t wait to share the finish with you all xx

Longest run so far

Saturday 4th Sep
Today we set off to achieve 24km. I’ve been off completely for two weeks with a shin/calf issue but I’m back for the time being and and only did a few little fast runs before this one. I surprised myself and in perfect weather we accomplished 24km. I was stoked, my furtherest run yet! The next 3 will be bigger, then taper before the big one! Bring on the next 5 weeks!!

Progress

Thursday 22nd Jul
Thank you so much for all donations, I’m truly thankful! I’ve been braving the cold early mornings and pounding the pavements 4 days a week solo. Sunday, long run Tam and I pound the pavement together for whatever the distance the plan tells us. It’s about to start ramping up in distance and time to cover. Just shy of 11 weeks out. All going well restrictions wise I have the Shepparton Running Festival half marathon and Melbourne’s Run for the Kids both in August. Can’t wait!! Thanks for following my journey ☺️

Day 1, Week 1 of my 18 Week Training Program

Monday 7th Jun
Hello everyone,
Thanks for supporting my journey to run this epic marathon and to help fundraise what I can towards children fighting with brain cancer,
Today is my first official day of training in my 18 week training plan....

THAT MEANS - 18 weeks until I toe the line, and let's hope its a real line not a virtual one!!!

Your support means the world to me and many other little people on the sidelines,

THANK YOU!

Brain cancer research is on the tipping point. We can all be part of making important breakthrough happen. My fundraising is something that I can do to support the science and in the meantime the patients. For all the people out there currently battling brain tumours and for those who couldn’t wait for research to progress any longer. I’m doing this because I know we can find a way to make brain tumours go the way of the dinosaurs.
