Team Sophia Family Fete Day

On Wednesday the 4th May 2022, Lee and Gabriella Nardella got the news that no parents should ever have to hear. Their darling little Sophia was diagnosed with ATRT cancer, 

ATRT also known as
Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumors are very rare and aggressive tumors of the central nervous system. Occurring mostly in the cerebellum (the part of the brain that controls movement and balance) or the brain stem (the part of the brain that controls basic body functions).

Sophia at only 5 months old had already undergone an operation to drain fluid from her brain and an 8 hour surgery to remove the tumour.

Soon after Sophia’s operation she then began intense rounds of chemotherapy, that had both her and her parents living in the royal children’s hospital for 7 months. Now at 12 months old Sophia is still fighting her fight.

On behalf of Sophia’s Family we are raising funds for Sophia with things she needs such as on going treatments with rehabilitation, specialist appointments, day to day care and living expenses and anything else she needs along the way.

Sophia’s parents are both unable to work due to Sophia needing full time care, 

Sophia also has an older brother Luca who is 2 years old and would love to be able to play with his little sister like siblings should. Sophia isn’t like most babies her age as she has had many side effects from all the chemotherapy and operations. She is unable to do things like sit up or move about. Sophia now has a long journey of rehabilitation to do and continue to fight her fight against brain cancer.
